Sandiip Sikcand: Regional TV Offers Storytelling Freedom

Sandiip Sikcand, a producer with a creative focus on regional content, is currently backing the Marathi show 'Shubh Shravani'. He expresses that the allure of regional television lies in its allowance for original storytelling, a contrast to the current trend of Hindi shows adapting regional content.

Sikcand explains that regional television allows storytellers more creative space without immediate rating pressures. He observes that Hindi television often panics if a show doesn't perform in its first week, whereas regional markets show more patience. This trust in the process fosters more meaningful storytelling.

He believes that sincere storytelling and originality drive success, a trend seen across various regional film industries like Marathi and Gujarati. Sikcand also mentioned his continued interest in acting, particularly in digital platforms, and a desire to return to theatre.

While open to producing for Hindi television again, Sikcand emphasizes the need for greater openness to original concepts. He remains a guest panelist on Bigg Boss annually but has no intention of participating as a contestant.
