The San Sebastián Film Festival recently announced six new titles added to its 74th Official Selection, bolstering the lineup for the prestigious Golden Shell competition. These additions include new works from acclaimed directors Jesse Eisenberg, Fred Cavayé, Amanda Kernell, and Gabriel Martins, alongside directorial debuts from Ah Biao and Tony Vahl.
Jesse Eisenberg's "The Debut," starring Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti, marks his third feature as a director. Fred Cavayé presents a new adaptation of Victor Hugo's "Les Misérables," featuring Vincent Lindon, Tahar Rahim, and Noémie Merlant. Amanda Kernell's "Brace Your Heart" and Gabriel Martins' "On Behalf of My Son" also join the selection, with the latter having a Netflix partnership.
Rounding out the new additions are two feature debuts: Ah Biao's "Border" and Tony Vahl's "Krux," the latter inspired by true events during World War II. These six films will now compete against previously announced contenders for the festival's top prize. The 74th San Sebastián Film Festival is scheduled to take place from September 18 to September 26.
