Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli Divorce After 9 Years

Samira Wiley and her wife, Lauren Morelli, have announced they are divorcing after nine years together. A representative confirmed the couple is amicably filing for divorce, stating their lifelong commitment to co-parenting their daughter, George Elizabeth, remains.

Wiley, known for her role in 'Orange Is The New Black,' and Morelli, a writer for the same show, tied the knot in 2017. Morelli has shared that working on the series, which featured a prominent same-sex love story, was a significant catalyst in her personal journey of realizing and accepting her sexuality.

Morelli had previously been married to a man, Stephen Basilone, before divorcing him in 2014. She and Wiley began dating thereafter and became engaged in 2016. Wiley recalled being a 'confidante' and 'therapist' to Morelli during her coming-out process, noting she herself had come out at a younger age.
