Veteran lyricist Sameer Anjaan has shared an intriguing anecdote from his early career, revealing he was once poised to pen the lyrics for the landmark film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Anjaan recounted his close friendship with composer duo Anand-Milind during the film's development. He was initially involved in the project when Mansoor Khan, the director, was making a documentary.
Nasir Hussain, Mansoor Khan's father, initially wished for his son to collaborate with established professionals like R.D. Burman and Majrooh Sultanpuri. However, Mansoor Khan expressed a desire to work with emerging talents. A compromise was reached, retaining Anand-Milind as music directors but bringing Majrooh Sultanpuri on board as the lyricist.
This decision meant Sameer Anjaan was ultimately not part of the iconic film, which went on to become a massive success. While Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak did not feature his lyrics, Mansoor Khan later collaborated with Anjaan on the 2000 film Josh. Anjaan's first successful collaboration with Aamir Khan was for the 1990 film Dil.
