Veteran actor Sam Neill has announced that he is now cancer-free, sharing an "extraordinary" update four years after his stage three cancer diagnosis. The 78-year-old Jurassic Park star was battling angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, since 2022.
Neill previously underwent a "brutal" monthly chemotherapy treatment that proved effective for a time. However, he revealed that the chemotherapy eventually stopped working, leaving him in a critical state. The turning point came with the experimental CAR T-cell therapy, a treatment involving genetically modified blood cells.
Following this advanced therapy, Neill shared the positive outcome of his recent scan. "I've had a scan just now, and there is no cancer in my body. This is an extraordinary thing," he stated. Hematologists noted the treatment's success in making cancer cells visible to the immune system. With his health improving, Neill expressed eagerness to return to filmmaking, calling it "science at its best."
