Farhan Akhtar is poised for his major Hollywood debut in Oscar-winner Sam Mendes' upcoming "The Beatles - A Four Film Cinematic Event." Akhtar has been cast as the legendary sitar maestro Ravi Shankar, a pivotal figure whose work deeply impacted George Harrison and infiltrated Beatles compositions. The project is currently filming in the UK.
This cinematic event, comprising four feature films, is slated for a collective theatrical release in April 2028. Each film will explore the life of one Beatle: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. This marks the first time Apple Corps and The Beatles have granted full access to their life stories and music rights for such an adaptation.
Joining Akhtar are Lucy Boynton, who will play Jane Asher, Paul McCartney's former fiancée and muse; Morfydd Clark as Cynthia Lennon, John Lennon's first wife; and Harry Lawtey as Stuart Sutcliffe, the band's original bassist. This marks Akhtar's first significant role in a Hollywood production, following a brief appearance in the 2022 Disney+ series Ms Marvel.
