Summary
- Sam Claflin drove 3+ hours home every weekend to spend time with his kids
- Claflin's ex-wife "held down the fort" while he was away filming
- Claflin says being a parent "allowed me to open up in a way I never thought"

In a recent interview, actor Sam Claflin has shared how he found a way to stay "sane" during the intense production of Prime Video's new thriller series, 'Lazarus'. Claflin, 39, tells that every weekend for five months, he would drive more than three hours from the Manchester filming location to London to take his 9-year-old son Pip to football practice and give his 7-year-old daughter Margot "a big cuddle" before heading back.
Claflin credits his ex-wife Laura Haddock for "holding down the fort" while he was away, saying "it was my way of forgetting everything. When I'm with them, it's all about them." He adds that being a parent "allowed me the opportunity to kind of open myself up in a way that I never thought I would."
The role in 'Lazarus' proved to be a challenging one for Claflin, who plays forensic physiologist Joel. The series follows Joel as he uncovers the mysterious circumstances surrounding the murders of his father's late patients. Claflin confesses the role "really just allowed me to open up Pandora's box within myself," leading to a "mini breakdown" after filming due to being "so exhausted, mentally, emotionally [and] physically."
