Interest in the temple's interior is exceptionally high. Less than 24 hours after online ticketing opened on September 1st, more than a million reservations were made globally. The temple, built from quartz monzonite, is central to Salt Lake City's history, with streets once oriented by their distance from it.
For Latter-day Saints, temples are considered houses of the Lord, reserved for faithful members. Public access is typically limited to periods before a temple's dedication or rededication. Church officials view the 2027 open house as an opportunity to foster goodwill and clarify beliefs, rather than a recruitment strategy.
