Music industry veterans Ramesh and Kumar Taurani shared insights into their journey, recalling their first music rights acquisition for 'Gunahon Ka Devta' in 1990 for Rs. 2.25 lakhs. They also secured rights for 'Elaan-E-Jung' (1989), using extensive advertising to build their company's reputation.
A significant turning point involved the film 'Patthar Ke Phool' (1991). Following Salman Khan's success in 'Maine Pyar Kiya' (1989), his career had a gap. Ramesh Taurani noticed an announcement of Salman Khan's next project with G.P. Sippy and proactively offered to acquire the music rights.
Ramesh Taurani suggested reuniting the successful team from 'Maine Pyar Kiya' for music direction. Initially, music director Raamlaxman quoted Rs. 12 lakhs for the rights, a figure considered high at the time. After negotiation, the rights were secured for Rs. 10 lakhs.
The Taurani brothers provided an initial Rs. 5 lakh cheque to G.P. Sippy. This payment was crucial for covering salaries for actors Salman Khan and Raveena Tandon, as well as writer Salim Khan, thereby facilitating the film's production to begin.
