Salman Khan is reportedly being considered for a crucial police officer role in "Khalnayak Returns." Subhash Ghai, who directed the original 1993 blockbuster and is serving as a creative consultant, has collaborated with writers to craft this character. The role is described as that of a Samaritan cop who will aid Sanjay Dutt's character, with sources suggesting Salman Khan is an ideal fit.
While the script is still under development and casting is not yet finalized, Ghai confirmed that it's premature to comment definitively. He explained his decision not to direct the sequel himself, citing his age and his desire not to remake his own work. Ghai encouraged Sanjay Dutt to produce the film, offering his support as a creative producer.
"Khalnayak Returns" was announced by Sanjay Dutt and Subhash Ghai in April 2026. The original film starred Sanjay Dutt as Ballu Balram, alongside Jackie Shroff and Madhuri Dixit. Salman Khan's current commitments include hosting "Bigg Boss 20" and awaiting the release of his film "Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace."
