Salman Khan's Ad Case: Consumer Panel Rejects Appeal
17 Mar
Summary
- Consumer panel dismissed revision petitions against Salman Khan.
- Misleading advertisement allegations against Rajshree Pan Masala upheld.
- Panel asserted consumer relief should not be centralized in New Delhi.

A Rajasthan state consumer commission has dismissed revision petitions from actor Salman Khan and Rajshree Pan Masala. The petitions challenged earlier orders regarding allegations of misleading advertisements. The bench, led by Justice Devendra Kachhawaha, issued its decision on Monday, March 16, 2026.
Khan and the company argued that only the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) in New Delhi or authorized officers could initiate actions for misleading ads. They contended that the complainant did not qualify as a 'consumer.' However, the state commission countered this, stating that centralizing such powers would hinder effective consumer relief nationwide.
Previously, district consumer commissions had issued restrictive orders on January 6 and January 15, 2026. These rulings placed limitations on Rajshree Pan Masala's promotional activities and mandated court supervision for obtaining Salman Khan's signature on endorsements.
