Salman Khan is intensifying his support for Assam's flood-displaced families through the "Aashiana" project, a collaboration with the non-profit Global Sikhs. This initiative focuses on rebuilding lives by constructing semi-permanent homes after initial emergency food aid was provided.
The rehabilitation effort gained momentum after Salman Khan was inspired by Randeep Hooda's on-ground relief work. Discussions with Global Sikhs founder Amarpreet Singh revealed plans for flood-resistant homes made of bamboo and tin sheets, each costing approximately Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000.
Together, Salman Khan's Being Human foundation and Global Sikhs have pledged to build 500 houses. This joint effort has already completed 220 houses in Nepali Khuti, a severely affected village, with construction progressing at a rate of eight to ten houses daily.
