Salman Khan's Film Suit: Jurisdiction Fight!
9 Oct
Summary
- Court seeks Salman Khan's response on jurisdiction plea.
- Filmmaker argues Delhi court lacks territorial authority.
- Actor's plea to stop film release faces producer's opposition.
The Delhi High Court has requested Salman Khan's response regarding an application challenging the territorial jurisdiction of his suit. Filmmaker Amit Jani, producer of 'Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legal,' has asked the court to dismiss Khan's plea to stop the film's release.
Justice Tejas Karia issued a notice, granting Khan four weeks to respond. Jani argues that neither Khan nor the film's defendants reside or conduct business within Delhi's jurisdiction, and mere online accessibility of teasers is insufficient grounds for the court's authority. Khan resides in Mumbai, while defendants are in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
Jani also opposed the injunction, deeming it an extraordinary remedy for a completed film, noting a teaser doesn't represent the full context. This challenge follows Khan's earlier suit to protect his personality rights concerning the film, which is reportedly based on him and the blackbuck controversy.
