Sally Field, renowned for her role in Mrs. Doubtfire, shared an amusing anecdote about filming the 1993 comedy. She confessed that she was the sole cast member who resisted laughing at Robin Williams' on-set antics, a situation that apparently vexed the late comedian.
Field explained that her inability to break character was not due to professionalism but rather because she found his attempts at humor "unfunny." However, costar Pierce Brosnan eventually succeeded where Williams could not.
Brosnan's simple gag, a fart noise made on his arm, proved irresistible to Field, causing her to finally erupt in laughter. Williams reportedly reacted with surprise, questioning if that was all it took.
Mrs. Doubtfire, which saw Williams disguise himself as a nanny to see his children, was a significant commercial success, grossing $441 million worldwide. Williams continued to star in memorable films until his passing in 2014.
