Saiyaara, a 2025 romantic drama from Yash Raj Films, has encountered a significant controversy. Actor and singer Amit Jadhav has come forward alleging that the film's narrative is strikingly similar to his short film, Khwabon. Jadhav claims the production house did not credit his work, despite prior contact.
According to Jadhav, YRF Talent reached out to him via Instagram in 2022 regarding an unspecified project. He states that after Saiyaara's release on July 18, 2025, friends pointed out the plot similarities. Jadhav attempted to contact the filmmakers, visiting their office, but felt ignored.
The situation deeply affected Jadhav emotionally, leading him to experience severe distress and suicidal ideation. He mentioned that continuing work as a singer helped him cope. Jadhav had plans to expand his story into a larger script, but the release of Saiyaara disrupted these intentions.
While Jadhav admitted his script was not formally registered with the Screenwriter's Association, he had shared his work publicly as a short film. He sent two emails to the production house seeking clarification regarding the similarities and YRF's initial contact but received no response. Jadhav is seeking acknowledgment or a role in future projects.
