Heist Thriller Meets Family Drama: 'Saints' Premieres

Mikel Gurrea's second feature, "Saints," is making its world premiere in competition at the San Sebastián Festival. This film is described as a stylish family drama intertwined with a unique heist thriller.

Victoria Luengo, who previously starred in Gurrea's "Suro," leads the cast as Lali, a drifter and thief summoned to Barcelona. She returns to find her estranged mother, Gloria, gravely ill. Lali becomes involved with a group of artifact thieves led by Rosario.

The film navigates Lali's choices between her biological family and her newly found chosen family. M-Appeal has acquired the international sales rights for "Saints," emphasizing its potential for international distribution.

"Saints" is a co-production between Nocturna Pictures, Lastor Media, Deliris Films, and Italy's Kino Produzioni. The collaboration highlights the increasing importance of international financing for Catalan-language films seeking global reach.
