Saif Ali Khan Praises Ex-Wife Amrita Singh's Pivotal Role in His Early Career

As of October 2025, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has opened up about the significant role his ex-wife Amrita Singh played in shaping his early career. Though their marriage was marked by turbulence and ultimately ended in a much-publicized separation, Saif now reflects on how Amrita's influence during those formative years was "quite invaluable."

Saif and Amrita's relationship began when they met on the set of Rahul Rawail's film Bekhudi, which Saif was set to debut in but was eventually replaced. Despite the film not materializing for Saif, it turned out to be a life-altering moment as he fell in love with the already-established Bollywood actress Amrita. The two surprised everyone by getting married in 1991, even before Saif had made his on-screen debut.

In a recent appearance on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna's talk show, Saif acknowledged Amrita's crucial role in helping him navigate the film industry in his early days. He shared, "Apart from having two wonderful, wonderful children, I don't think I've said before how important Amrita was in my life, to help me understand my way through the film industry, as well as understand quite a few things." Kajol echoed this sentiment, saying Amrita "brought you up well."

Saif and Amrita's wedding was also recently revisited by fashion designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, who were present at the hush-hush ceremony. They revealed that the wedding involved both a maulvi and a Sikh priest, and Amrita was even given a new name during the proceedings.

Today, Saif is happily married to Kareena Kapoor Khan, with whom he has two sons, Taimur and Jehangir. From his previous marriage with Amrita, Saif shares daughter Sara Ali Khan and son Ibrahim Ali Khan, both of whom are steadily making their mark in Bollywood.
