Sagarika Ghatge: I didn't want to marry a cricketer!

Sagarika Ghatge, married for eight years to former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan, revealed her initial reluctance to marry someone from the sports or film industry. This perspective shifted significantly after she met Zaheer. Khan, in turn, stated that an actress or any other profession would not have mattered to him, as cricketers do not view such matters restrictively.

During a recent podcast appearance, the couple candidly discussed their interfaith marriage. Zaheer Khan highlighted the importance of mutual respect for each other's religions, influenced by his parents' teachings to honor all faiths. He believes in supporting what brings happiness rather than conforming to societal opinions.

Ghatge shared her upbringing, which included participating in Diwali and Gudi Padwa pujas, practices she continues post-marriage. She noted Zaheer's profound respect for these traditions, often participating more actively than she does.

Khan also recounted his initial meeting with Sagarika's parents, whom he described as both progressive and traditional. Despite Sagarika's warnings, the meeting was unexpectedly positive, extending from a planned 30 minutes to over two hours of conversation.
