A man's persistent attempts to enter pop star Sabrina Carpenter's Los Angeles residence have resulted in a five-year restraining order. William Applegate, 31, was ordered by a judge on Wednesday to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Carpenter, her sister, and her sister's partner. Applegate had tried to access Carpenter's home over a dozen times, including an incident last month where he assaulted a security guard before reaching her front door.
During a hearing, Applegate asserted that he and Carpenter were part of a classified military program and needed to be together for "national and global security." He believed their union was essential to save the world. Despite his claims, Carpenter's attorney stated the singer "is in fear for her own personal safety and the safety of members of her family." Applegate remains under criminal investigation, though no charges have been filed.
Judge David L. Wasserman took Applegate's assertions seriously, questioning him closely before issuing the order. The judge stressed that Applegate must obey the court's directive, not his own interpretation of military commands. The order also prohibits Applegate from attempting to communicate with Carpenter in any manner and from possessing firearms. Carpenter, a former Disney Channel star, has achieved significant global success with her music career.
