22 Oct
Summary
- Lawsuit against Phillippe over alleged injury at his restaurant dropped
- Phillippe shuts down rumors about his relationship with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon
- Phillippe is a minority investor in the restaurant, not an owner

On October 17, 2025, Ryan Phillippe received good news as a lawsuit filed against him and his business partners over an alleged injury at a Los Angeles restaurant he invested in was dropped. The plaintiff, Jody Sanders, had accused the defendants of general negligence and demanded unspecified damages, claiming she was injured by a burning candle at The Hideaway restaurant in April 2024.
However, Sanders' lawyer has now informed the court that all claims against Phillippe, his business partner Jeffrey Best, and the restaurant have been withdrawn. Phillippe, who is a minority investor in the Mexican steakhouse, has not yet responded to the case in court.
In a separate matter, Phillippe recently addressed rumors about his relationship with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon. He commented on a social media post that claimed Witherspoon had auditioned for the 1997 film "I Know What You Did Last Summer" but withdrew, recommending Phillippe for the role instead. Phillippe stated that he is "not sure that story is truuuuuue."
The former couple, who were married from 1996 to 2006, share two children together. They met at Witherspoon's 21st birthday in 1997 and got engaged the following year, later tying the knot in 1999.
