Summary
- Ryan Coogler met Robert Downey Jr. and Kevin Feige at an Iron Man event.
- This encounter occurred before Coogler's directorial success with "Fruitvale Station".
- Coogler later directed Marvel's "Black Panther" films.

Filmmaker Ryan Coogler recounted an unexpected encounter from 2008, meeting Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige at an "Iron Man" premiere. This was five years before his debut film "Fruitvale Station" and a decade before "Black Panther." Coogler was briefly locked out of the Arclight cinema's screening by security.
He was eventually allowed back in to watch the film and see Downey Jr. entertain the audience. Less than a decade later, Coogler directed Marvel's "Black Panther," a role that solidified Chadwick Boseman's portrayal of T'Challa. He later helmed "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," adapting his plans after Boseman's passing.
Looking ahead, Coogler is developing "Black Panther 3." Meanwhile, Marvel's cinematic slate includes "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" scheduled for July 31, 2026, and "Avengers: Doomsday" set for December 2026.
