Actress Ruth Jones has revealed the extensive preparation involved in her role as private investigator Elena Ravenscroft in Netflix's new Harlan Coben series, 'Run Away.' Jones underwent significant training with firearms, a novel experience for her that she stated made her feel "powerful" on screen.
The preparation included learning about the technical aspects of simulating gunfire, such as "squibs," and how to safely handle and fire blank guns, which she noted are incredibly loud. A particularly memorable moment for Jones was filming a flashback shootout scene in an abandoned factory.
The thriller, which also features James Nesbitt, debuted on Netflix on New Year's Day and has garnered praise, including a positive reception on Rotten Tomatoes. The series is based on Harlan Coben's 2019 novel, following a father whose life is upended when his daughter disappears.
