This annual program provides an opportunity for filmmakers to develop original short films that delve into the Italian American experience, encompassing its rich culture, language, history, and identity.
Five selected filmmakers will each receive a $10,000 production grant to bring their short film concepts to life over several months. A top filmmaker will be chosen by a distinguished committee, receiving an additional $10,000 grant and entry into the AGBO Storytellers Collective, an alumni network offering mentorship and industry support.
Since 2017, the RBIAFF has championed emerging cinematic talent, awarding over $450,000 in grants to more than 55 filmmakers. This initiative actively supports and celebrates Italian American heritage by fostering authentic and compelling storytelling within the film industry.
