- He drove them again 40 years later in Nashville.

In April 1982, Kevin Griffin, then 15, found himself driving two members of the rock band Rush around Monroe, Louisiana, in his 1978 Honda Civic. This unexpected event occurred after the band's car service failed to arrive.
Griffin and his friend met the band at their hotel, eventually offering them a ride to a sporting goods store. This led to an invitation backstage for a soundcheck, where Griffin witnessed the band's craft firsthand.
During the soundcheck, Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson famously showed Griffin how to play the opening riff of "The Spirit of Radio." This experience profoundly influenced Griffin, who later formed the band Better Than Ezra.
Forty years later, in the summer of 2022, Griffin encountered Lifeson again in Nashville. He drove Lifeson to his hotel, mirroring their 1982 ride and rekindling memories of that extraordinary day.
