The "RuPaul's Drag Race" franchise is experiencing a period of significant expansion. The 18th season of the main series recently concluded, followed by the premiere of "RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars" season 11. Adding to this momentum, the production company World of Wonder is releasing "Stop! That! Train!", the franchise's first feature film, on June 12.
Amidst the buzz for the new film and during an FYC event for the main series' 18th season, discussions turned to a potential RuPaul Charles biopic. Judge Michelle Visage and RuPaul's makeup artist David Petruschin, also known as Raven, expressed enthusiasm for the project. Visage stated that a biopic is "destiny" and "needs to happen," having been a topic of conversation for decades.
Visage and Petruschin are expected to be involved in a biopic, given their long-standing relationships with RuPaul. When considering who might portray RuPaul, both Visage and Petruschin agreed that the role should go to the most talented actor or drag queen available. Visage also offered her own casting ideas for her role, mentioning Reneé Rapp, Julia Garner, and Miley Cyrus, depending on the desired age.
"RuPaul's Drag Race" has a strong history at the Emmys, with 29 awards. While "The Traitors" has emerged as a competitor, Visage hopes the show reclaims its reality competition win, viewing it as a significant statement, especially given the current political climate.
Visage remains heavily involved in various "Drag Race" iterations, including "All Stars" and "Down Under." When asked about participating in "The Traitors," she expressed interest in being a "Traitor" herself, acknowledging the potential for assumptions but noting other well-known figures who have played the role.
