Kate Hudson is set to star in the second season of the Netflix sports comedy "Running Point," reprising her role as Isla Gordon. The new season, which begins streaming on April 23, will see Isla facing increased pressure as the executive in charge of the fictional Los Angeles Waves basketball team.
Last season, Isla found her footing after being underestimated by her family. In season two, she is the target, determined to prove she can lead the team despite her brother Cam's behind-the-scenes efforts to regain control. The series explores Isla's journey through family power plays and the demanding world of professional basketball.
The ensemble cast features Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, Uche Agada, and recurring guest star Ray Romano as the new head coach. The season also includes guest appearances by series co-creator Ike Barinholtz and Lisa Rinna, along with new characters played by Octavia Spencer, Nicole Richie, and Scott Speedman.
"Running Point" debuted last February and quickly earned a renewal after spending five weeks in Netflix's global English Top 10 TV chart. The show is executive produced by Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen, with Stassen also serving as showrunner. Hudson also serves as an executive producer.
