Action-Comedy 'Runner' Outshines Twin Film

In a notable cinematic showdown, "Runner" emerges as a superior action-comedy, outperforming its similarly titled contemporary. The film, directed by Scott Waugh, features Alan Ritchson as Hank Malone, an American courier in Australia. His day takes a dramatic turn when he is hired to escort a rare organ for a child's transplant.

Hank is paired with Ben Bishop, portrayed by Owen Wilson, a tech expert unfamiliar with the peril involved. They become targets for heavily-armed criminals seeking the valuable organ, forcing Hank, a recovering alcoholic haunted by his past, into violent confrontations. Despite his reluctance, he must employ creative and brutal tactics to protect the delivery.

Director Scott Waugh, known for his stunt background, orchestrates dynamic action sequences, blending fistfights, shootouts, and car chases with comedic elements. The script by Miles Hubley and Tommy White provides a smart narrative with twists, memorable villains, and likable heroes, creating an emotional and surprising experience. The film successfully balances humor and thrilling action, making it a highly entertaining watch.
