22 Feb
Summary
- Ruffalo questions Cameron's stance on potential Paramount acquisition.
- Cameron previously expressed concern over Netflix buying Warner Bros.
- Netflix and Paramount are vying to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery.

Mark Ruffalo has publicly questioned filmmaker James Cameron's stance on media acquisitions, specifically regarding Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD).
Ruffalo urged Cameron to state whether he also opposes a potential acquisition of WBD by Paramount, mirroring his concerns about Netflix's bid. Cameron had previously voiced worries that Netflix acquiring WBD would harm the theatrical film industry.
Cameron had also suggested in November that Paramount Global, led by David Ellison, would be the best choice to buy WBD, calling a Netflix acquisition a "disaster." However, WBD's board has continued to recommend the Netflix merger, though they have reopened talks with Paramount, who had made multiple bids.
Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos refuted Cameron's claims, calling them part of a "disinformation campaign." Sarandos clarified that Netflix intends to maintain a healthy theatrical window for films, contradicting Cameron's assertion about a 17-day window.
