Ruben Östlund Launches Film Platform, MyList

Ruben Östlund, a two-time Palme d'Or winner, has co-launched MyList, a novel film recommendation platform. This venture, developed with fellow Swedish filmmakers Felix Herngren and Johan Kindblom, champions the idea that human taste is superior to algorithmic curation. The platform invites a diverse range of individuals, from artists to everyday film lovers, to curate personal film lists organized by themes.

MyList has debuted in Sweden, allowing users to discover films recommended by notable figures like Kirsten Dunst and Keanu Reeves. The platform aims to bridge the gap between industry insiders and the public, offering personal insights alongside film suggestions. Currently, it links to streaming options and plans to include theatrical screenings.

While Östlund's new satire, 'The Entertainment System Is Down,' is undergoing extensive post-production and will not be ready before the end of 2026, his focus has also been on this new cinematic discovery tool. The site is free and ad-supported, with plans for an imminent English-language version and subsequent global expansion.
