At the 2026 Royal Television Society (RTS) Programme Awards held in London, 16-year-old actor Owen Cooper achieved significant recognition. He secured two awards: the breakthrough award and best supporting actor - male, for his performance in the Netflix drama 'Adolescence'.
The four-part series, which focuses on a 13-year-old's arrest for murder, also won the award for best limited series. The drama was co-written by Stephen Graham, who also starred as the protagonist's father and was nominated for leading actor.
Graham, alongside Jack Thorne, was honored with the award for best writer - drama. The RTS Programme Awards showcased a broad spectrum of British television achievements, with the BBC leading in wins across various categories.
Other notable winners included Narges Rashidi for leading actor - female and stars from 'Unforgivable' for leading actor and supporting actor awards. Presenter Hamza Yassin and Gabby Logan also received accolades for their work. Sir Michael Palin was honored with the outstanding achievement award.
