On SmackDown, Gunther's attempt to sign a contract for the Undisputed WWE Championship match at Clash in Italy was interrupted by newcomer Royce Keys. Gunther expressed frustration with Cody Rhodes, accusing him of making the situation about himself. Rhodes challenged Gunther to sign the contract in the ring, to which Keys boldly stepped forward to sign on Gunther's behalf.
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis deemed Gunther's actions as overplaying his hand and scheduled him for a match against Keys later that night. Solo Sikoa attempted to recruit Keys to his faction before the bout. Gunther ultimately defeated Keys with a powerbomb after a distraction involving Solo Sikoa and a steel chair.
In another segment, Carmelo Hayes faced Ricky Starks. Hayes, returning to the ring, secured a hard-fought victory over Starks with a roll-up using the ropes for leverage, a move the referee did not see. Additionally, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defeated Michin and B-Fab via disqualification.
