New Body Horror Thriller 'Rot' Gears Up for Production

Alexandra Magistro, an executive at Mike Flanagan's Red Room Pictures, is making her feature directorial debut with the psychological thriller and body horror film 'Rot.' The movie will star Cooper Koch, Amber Midthunder, and Matthew Lillard. Midthunder and Lillard are also part of Flanagan's upcoming Carrie TV series.
The film is based on a 2024 Black List script by Geo Bradley, described as "Repulsion by way of Cronenberg." The story follows an antisocial man dealing with obsessive compulsions, tormented by his hoarder mother's death. He takes on trauma cleaning work to confront his past, but the job begins to corrupt his mental state.
Mike Flanagan is producing 'Rot' through his Red Room Banner, alongside Molly C. Quinn, Matthew M. Welty, and Elan Gale of QWGmire. Production is slated to begin in Vancouver in November.
Magistro, who serves as VP of Creative at Flanagan's company, has been an executive producer on 'The Exorcist: Martyrs' and a writer/producer on the 'Carrie' series adaptation. Koch recently garnered award nominations for his role in 'Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.' Midthunder is known for 'Prey' and 'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.' Lillard's recent credits include 'Daredevil: Born Again' and 'Five Nights at Freddy's 2.'
