12 Mar
Summary
- Pike described her role in 'Doom' as a career-threatening catastrophe.
- She initially agreed to the action film despite being out of her comfort zone.
- The movie performed poorly commercially despite its star power.

Rosamund Pike recently shared her candid thoughts on starring in the 2005 film adaptation of the video game 'Doom.' Speaking on the podcast How to Fail with Elizabeth Day, Pike characterized the experience as a "catastrophe" and "one of the worst films ever made," admitting it nearly ended her career.
Pike, known for her role in 'Pride and Prejudice,' recalled being approached for the action franchise while immersed in her period drama. She felt vastly out of her depth among the "macho guys" and "weights on the set," particularly alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who had recently transitioned from wrestling to acting.
The film, directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak, grossed $58.7 million worldwide on a significant budget. While it didn't achieve critical acclaim or lasting impact, Pike expressed gratitude for the experience, noting it prompted her to research video games, something she hadn't done prior to the production.
