In October 2025, renowned actor and producer Ron Perlman has announced the launch of a new film, TV, and new media studio called Asylm Studios, based in Los Angeles. Perlman co-founded Asylm Studios with Willie Morris, who has experience in the fast-growing consumer, media, and technology sectors.
As part of its debut, Asylm Studios will be providing production financing for the psychological thriller 'Kodak Super-XX,' directed by Auden Bui and starring Kelly Marie Tran and David Dastmalchian. The neo-noir film is described as "a haunting burn about loneliness, art, and the moment creation and obsession blur into one."
Perlman, known for his Emmy-nominated role in 'Beauty and the Beast' and his portrayal of the titular character in the 'Hellboy' franchise, aims to bring about changes to the traditional studio model. Asylm Studios will focus on offering equitable profit-sharing, ensuring that writers, directors, crew members, and production staff can share in the success of each project.
"Asylm Studios will be a sanctuary for bold storytelling - a home for creators who refuse to conform," said Perlman, the co-founder of the new studio. "Our mission is simple - give artists the freedom, resources, protection, and partnership they need to craft work that matters."
