Roger Dubuis introduces the Excalibur The Kabuto Legacy, a remarkable timepiece that merges haute horlogerie with Japanese history. Inspired by samurai leaders from 17th-century Japan, the watch replaces traditional hour markers with 12 unique, hand-engraved 18-karat gold ceremonial helmets (kabuto).
These miniature helmets symbolize lineage and philosophies, with five representing key historical figures like Tokugawa Ieyasu. The dial artfully depicts an abstract Edo Castle, using a deep indigo blue reminiscent of historical samurai garments.
Powered by the RD821 caliber and bearing the Hallmark of Geneva, this 45 mm pink gold watch is limited to 28 pieces. Collaborating with historian Frederik Cryns, Roger Dubuis ensures historical authenticity.
The watch features a blue calfskin strap and laser-engraved samurai crests on the caseback, completing its narrative. It is priced at $384,000, showcasing a blend of technical mastery and sculptural artistry.
