Over 30 years after their brief but headline-grabbing relationship, former NBA player Dennis Rodman is still opening up about his romance with pop icon Madonna in the 1990s. In a 2025 interview, Rodman shared several intriguing details about their whirlwind fling.
According to Rodman, Madonna set her sights on him in 1994 when he was playing for the San Antonio Spurs. He claims Madonna would frequently call the team, asking for him, and even showed up at his basketball practices. While most would be starstruck, Rodman admitted he wasn't impressed at first, saying "What, I'm supposed to jump up and down because it's Madonna?"
However, the romance eventually blossomed when Madonna attended one of Rodman's games in Los Angeles. "She was sitting in the front row with her friends, looking all Madonna-ish," Rodman recalled. "After the game, she's sitting at my locker. I was like, 'What the hell are you doing here?' I didn't invite her. She just came in and sat down."
Rodman described their relationship as a "hot fling" that was "easy" and over within a few months. But he also claimed that Madonna had been desperate to have a baby with him. Rodman alleged that while he was gambling in Las Vegas, Madonna called him and said, "I'm ovulating, I'm ovulating. Get your ass up here." He then flew to New York, "did his thing," and returned to Las Vegas.
Despite the brief nature of their romance, Rodman has continued to discuss it in interviews over the years. In a 2025 podcast, he said, "I don't like talking about it too much but me and Madonna had a good relationship. We had a good friendship and we dated for a minute and strangely enough, she used to come in the locker room and just sit there."
