This incident occurred while the octogenarian artist has suggested he may soon retire from touring, stating that his upcoming UK tour, including a performance at the O2, would "probably be it." He recently canceled a show in Chula Vista, California, less than an hour before it was scheduled, due to an acute upper respiratory infection causing laryngitis.
Sir Rod also canceled two Las Vegas shows last month due to a sinus infection requiring vocal rest. Despite these health concerns, he was seen traveling to watch Scotland play in the World Cup shortly after canceling the California show. Earlier this year, he attended a King's Trust celebration at the Royal Albert Hall.
