Rocky Horror Picture Show Celebrates 50 Years of Cult Phenomenon

As of September 26th, 2025, a new documentary titled Strange Journey: The Story Of Rocky Horror is set to explore the epic 50-year journey of the beloved cult classic film. The documentary, directed by Linus O'Brien, the son of Rocky Horror creator Richard O'Brien, will have a limited theatrical run in over 50 cities across the United States.

In addition to the Rocky Horror retrospective, this weekend also sees the release of several other notable films. Scarlett Johansson's directorial debut, Eleanor The Great, starring the 95-year-old June Squibb, is premiering on 892 screens. The film, which was well-received at this year's Cannes Film Festival, follows a witty and troublesome 94-year-old woman who upends her life after a devastating loss.

Also new in theaters is Homebound, India's Oscar submission for 2025, which is being executive produced by Martin Scorsese. The Hindi drama, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, is based on a 2020 New York Times story and follows two childhood friends from a small North Indian village as they chase a police job that promises them the dignity they've long been denied.

Rounding out the diverse lineup is the chilly thriller The Dead of Winter, starring Emma Thompson, and the mystery thriller The Ugly by acclaimed Korean filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho.
