Singer Sued by Photographer Over Art Prints
24 Feb
Summary
- Singer Amy Taylor sued photographer Jamie Nelson over art prints.
- Photographer countersued for alleged copyright infringement on Instagram.
- The legal battle centres on a Vogue Portugal photoshoot from May 2025.

Rock band Amyl and the Sniffers' lead singer, Amy Taylor, is entangled in a legal dispute with photographer Jamie Nelson. Taylor initially sued Nelson for allegedly selling fine art prints of her, derived from a May 2025 photoshoot for Vogue Portugal titled "Champagne Problems".
Nelson has now filed a countersuit in a Los Angeles court, accusing Taylor, her partner, and the band of copyright infringement. This countersuit stems from the alleged reposting of Nelson's photographs on the band's Instagram accounts. Nelson claims this action damaged her business and is seeking the dismissal of Taylor's original case.
The photographer asserts full copyright ownership of the images, having invested approximately US$20,000 of her own money into the Vogue shoot. She states that selling prints is standard practice in her industry. Nelson is also pursuing an "anti-SLAPP" motion to protect her First Amendment rights.
Taylor's legal team contends that the value of the prints derived solely from the singer's fame and that no consent was given for commercial use. They had reportedly asked Nelson to cease sales and remove the photos from her websites. A separate restraining order filed by Nelson against Taylor on December 9, 2025, is pending.
Taylor's team has indicated they sought an amicable resolution, but Nelson felt their actions unnecessarily escalated the conflict. The singer's initial complaint alleged harm, including lost profits and reputational damage due to the unauthorized use of her image.
Further case management is scheduled for March 5, 2026, with Nelson's restraining order hearing set for March 6, 2026.
