The Aishbagh Ramlila ground in Lucknow is hosting a spectacular Ramotsav 2026, featuring a 500-year-old tradition enhanced by modern technology. The event, which commenced on Sunday and runs through October 22, is drawing large crowds. A significant highlight is a 12-foot-tall robotic elephant, electrically operated and imported from Delhi, leading the ceremonial processions.
This year's staging incorporates AI-based presentations with advanced visual effects and sound arrangements on specific dates prior to the regular performances. Devotees will witness a 70-foot-tall effigy of Ravan being burnt on Dussehra, October 20. Traditional elements, including horses and camels, are also part of the vibrant celebration.
To ensure an immersive experience for all attendees, upgraded sound systems and LED screens have been installed. Organizers have also increased the seating capacity to 7,500. The Ramlila, presented by a troupe from Kolkata, focuses on retaining the sanctity of the epic while enhancing its dramatic impact through crisp dialogues and improved staging.
The celebrations will conclude on October 22 with a grand procession featuring 25 chariots with various deities' tableaux. This procession will traverse several city routes before ending at Dharm Dhwaj Temple.
