A new Robin Hood film, "The Lie of Sherwood Forest," is poised for its debut at the upcoming AFM, with Logical Pictures International and Protagonist Pictures managing sales. German production company augenschein is behind the project, which commenced production on November 9.

Directed by Patrick Vollrath, the film features a cast including Thomasin McKenzie, Finn Cole, and Antony Starr. The screenplay, penned by Harris Kauffman, is based on a story developed by Joachim Hedén and Vollrath. This adaptation transforms the familiar folklore into a grounded and intense fight for survival, loyalty, and justice, injecting a contemporary feel into the enduring legend.

The narrative centers on Robin Hood and his companions being misled by a young woman. They embark on a dangerous mission to rescue her captured brother, which quickly escalates into a perilous heist. Industry leaders have expressed enthusiasm for the film's innovative approach. Dave Bishop of Protagonist Pictures highlighted its radical reinvention of the legend as a bold, visceral, and propulsive cinematic vision. Andrei Kamarowsky of Logical Pictures Group was drawn to the premise of a young woman's deception propelling Robin Hood into a journey that reshapes the myth, maintaining the spirit of folklore while offering a fresh perspective with emotional stakes and tension.
