Robert Irwin recently shared a harrowing tale of survival on The Tonight Show, detailing an incident where he was "death-rolled" by his pet crocodile, Jimmy Fallon. The encounter took place in his native Australia as Irwin was researching conservation methods. He explained that he followed a technique pioneered by his late father, Steve Irwin, which involved jumping onto the crocodile. However, the 14-foot reptile, now a "Boss croc," initiated a death roll, leaving Irwin pinned with about 700 pounds of weight on him. He managed to survive the ordeal when the crocodile rolled back.
Earlier on the show, Irwin, the winner of Dancing with the Stars season 34, spoke about an emotional performance dedicated to his mother, Terri Irwin. He reflected on how the dance allowed him to share his journey of grief following his father's passing in 2006. Irwin highlighted how using his body for dance helped him express gratitude for his mother's support. Fans will see him next hosting Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro in July.
