According to Chris O'Donnell, Rob Lowe thoroughly enjoyed his time starring as fire captain Owen Strand on the recently canceled 9-1-1: Lone Star. O'Donnell, who is now set to lead a new ABC spinoff series, says Lowe "loved it" and "would have done that show forever."
Lowe found great satisfaction in playing a firefighter who got to "save the day" during the show's dramatic emergencies, which O'Donnell says included "firenados," "lightning," and "all sorts" of intense situations. Lowe was so passionate about the role that he didn't want the series to end.
Now, O'Donnell is taking on a similar high-octane firefighting role in the new ABC spinoff, which the network has described as a "high-octane procedural about heroic first responders, as well as their family saga of power and glamour." While Lowe doesn't have any immediate plans to reprise his 9-1-1: Lone Star character, he has expressed openness to the possibility, saying he'll "never say never" to returning to the role he grew to love.
