A live-action adaptation of R.L. Stine's iconic 1989 novel, 'The Babysitter,' is slated for release on Tubi in 2027. The film will follow Jenny, a determined 16-year-old babysitter seeking funds for a writing program. Her plans are complicated by a prowler terrorizing the neighborhood and a dangerous fugitive, escalating the peril as she realizes the threat may be closer than she thinks.
This new film continues Tubi's partnership with R.L. Stine, marking their fourth collaboration. It is distinct from previous adaptations which were based on Stine's short story anthologies. Jem Garrard is set to write and executive produce, with Trevor Calverleya directing.
'The Babysitter' book series includes three sequels, published between 1991 and 1995, exploring Jenny's continued struggles and the experiences of her cousin, Debra. Alongside 'The Babysitter,' Tubi is also releasing 'Afraid of Clowns' in 2027, another adaptation based on Stine's work.
