Decker's Dad Returns: A New Case Unfolds

Beau Bridges has joined the cast of R.J. Decker for a two-episode guest appearance, commencing on October 6th. Bridges portrays Reggie, R.J. Decker's father, who unexpectedly shows up hawking a fishing attractant at a competition where R.J. was investigating a case. Initially harboring resentment over his father's past absence, R.J. ultimately collaborates with Reggie to solve a murder mystery.

The father-son duo reaches a pivotal moment in their relationship, finding enjoyment in working together. Bridges hinted that his next episode, airing October 13th, will involve a seniors' home and another case. He described their evolving dynamic, noting that the initial surprise has worn off, and they are beginning to appreciate each other while also finding certain traits tiresome.

Filming in Wilmington, North Carolina, presented difficulties, particularly the extreme heat which reached up to 114 degrees on some days. Bridges, who has decades of experience in Hollywood, expressed admiration for lead actor Scott Speedman's handling of his role and their shared understanding as fathers. Bridges extensively watched the series before joining, becoming drawn to its unique characters and off-center plot lines.
