Rivian has unveiled a custom electric ambulance, a modified Commercial Van, for the popular television series Grey's Anatomy. This innovative "vanbulance" serves a dual purpose on set: it eliminates the emission of exhaust fumes, thereby improving safety for cast and crew, and provides a quieter environment for filming. Its design incorporates production-specific modifications, such as removable walls and roof panels, which allow for easier camera access for interior shots.
The company collaborated with the Huntington Beach Fire Department and the Los Angeles Fire Department to ensure the interior layout accurately reflects the needs of first responders. This electric ambulance, branded as "Seattle Emergency Response Services," made its debut on November 13, 2025, and was prominently featured in a recent episode. The integration of this eco-friendly vehicle highlights a commitment to sustainability within the entertainment industry.
