In a highly anticipated move, bestselling author E. Lockhart's popular YA novel "Genuine Fraud" is being adapted for Prime Video. The series, which is the latest collaboration between Lockhart and Amazon, will feature rising star Rain Spencer in the lead role.
Lockhart, who recently released her new book "We Fell Apart," praised Spencer's versatility, noting that the actress's work in "Summer I Turned Pretty" and "Good Girl Jane" showcased her full dramatic range. The author believes Spencer is the perfect fit to portray the con artist and chameleon at the heart of "Genuine Fraud."
Showrunner Sinead Daley, who is also behind the Stephanie Meyer adaptation "Midnight Sun," will helm the project. Daley is known for her investment in young adult storytelling and her ability to bring complex narratives to the screen.
The series is being produced by PKM Productions under their first-look deal with Amazon Studios. Lockhart, Spencer, and Daley will all serve as executive producers, alongside Patrick Moran and Lynley Bird.
With the success of "We Were Liars" and the anticipation surrounding "Genuine Fraud," this latest Prime Video adaptation is poised to captivate audiences and solidify Lockhart's status as a leading voice in the YA genre.
