Hometown Roots Fuel Rishab Shetty's Blockbuster 'Kantara' Success

In the two years since the release of 'Kantara: Chapter 1,' the film has continued to captivate audiences with its vivid depiction of the culture and folklore of a distinct region of Karnataka. For director Rishab Shetty, this project was a labor of love that spanned five years, with the filmmaker immersing himself in his own hometown to bring the story to life.

Shetty revealed that nearly 90% of the editing and music for 'Kantara' were completed in his village, with the entire post-production team, including the cinematographer and co-writers, relocating there. "We only came to Bengaluru and Kochi to finalize things," Shetty explained. "We even brought the music director to the village and set up the entire recording there."

The production of 'Kantara' also had a significant impact on Shetty's village, with the filmmaker stating that it has now turned into a "kind of film town or film village." During the shoot, the crew involved nearly a thousand people on set daily, with 100 vehicles involved in the process. "The people from my village were fully prepared for it, especially those from my hometown, Kundapura," Shetty said.

The success of 'Kantara' has been nothing short of phenomenal, with the film grossing ₹300 crore globally in just four days. This achievement is a testament to Shetty's dedication to his craft and his deep connection to his roots, which have undoubtedly played a crucial role in the film's captivating storytelling and widespread appeal.
