Ringo Starr, born Richard Starkey, humorously clarifies that while he was knighted in 2018 for his musical contributions, his formal title is 'Sir Richard,' not 'Sir Ringo.' He recently discussed his new country album, 'Long Long Road,' from the Sunset Marquis hotel in West Hollywood. Starr, who has maintained a home in Los Angeles since the 1970s, finds the city's environment and heat to be personally beneficial.
The new album, 'Long Long Road,' leans into country music and was co-written and recorded with producer T Bone Burnett in both Los Angeles and Nashville. Starr expressed his long-standing love for country music, recalling its popularity in his hometown of Liverpool during the 1950s and 60s due to merchant navy sailors bringing records from Texas. He also mentioned his early songwriting attempts with The Beatles, noting how his bandmates initially laughed at his efforts.
Starr is preparing to tour the western United States in May and June with his new music. He also revealed that Sir Paul McCartney will feature on his upcoming album, 'The Boys Of Dungeon Lane,' with a duet titled 'Home to Us.' Starr acknowledged that Barry Keoghan is slated to portray him in one of four upcoming Beatles films directed by Sam Mendes, set for release in 2028.
