Country music artist Riley Green has officially entered the acting world with his debut on "Marshals," a "Yellowstone" spinoff. Luke Grimes, a star of both "Yellowstone" and "Marshals," was the driving force behind Green's casting.
Grimes encountered Green while collaborating on music and learned of his interest in acting. Seeing an opportunity, Grimes suggested Green for a role in "Marshals," envisioning him as a "team guy" due to his appearance. The role of Garrett, a troubled former Navy SEAL seeking assistance from an old teammate, was developed with Green in mind.
"Marshals" centers on Kayce Dutton's life as a U.S. Marshal following his wife's death. Riley Green portrays Garrett, a guitar-playing ex-Navy SEAL grappling with his past. Grimes acknowledged that Green's considerable good looks might overshadow his own on screen.
Despite Grimes' recommendation, CBS required Green to audition. He traveled to Utah to read with Grimes, a process Grimes found amusing given Green's established stardom in country music. Green, however, exceeded all expectations during his first acting experience on set.
Green's sophomore country album, "Redbird," was released on April 3. "Marshals" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The series has already secured a second season after a premiere that drew 9.5 million viewers.
